HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM JACK AND LINDA

Halfway through the first month of 2023 we are once again wondering what the New Year will bring. Will new variants of Covid 19 require new restrictions?  Will we be wearing masks?
We have been worrying about that for months because no one knows what will be happening four or five months from now.
What we can promise is that we will offer you the best tour we can this summer.  You will leave with memories that will linger for years and photo-op pictures that will delight your family and friends.  A senior CBC radio producer who looked at Anne of Green Gables museums across Canada in 2019 said we were one of the very best in Canada (you can click on a link to her tribute to us to the right of our photo)
Once again we will be asking folks to book tours in advance by calling 705-762-5876 or 1-888-579-7739 or emailing balamus@muskoka.com
Starting  Monday, May 15th, we will be offering two tours on each day except Sunday. The first tour will be at 10 a.m.  The second will be at 1:30.
We look forward to welcoming you and your family.

30th ANNIVERSARY
OF BALA'S MUSEUM

Last summer we celebrated the 30th anniversary of our museum and the 100th anniversary of Lucy Maud Montgomery bringing her family to Bala for a two-week holiday.  It seemed incredible then that more than 125,000 visitors have through our doors since we opened on July 24th, 1992. The story of how this all started with our honeymoon in Prince Edward Island in 1990 has been shared by CBC national television, CTV and Global News and the Toronto dailies.

Lucy Maud Montgomery Heritage Destination
We are now a Literary Landmark!
Last year was a banner year for Bala as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s arriving in Bala in July, 1922.  Our museum was the tourist home in Bala where Montgomery and family had their meals.  The two weeks spent in Bala inspired LMM to write The Blue Castle, a coming-of-age novel set entirely in MuskokaBala’s Museum now has Heritage Designation. The 2 week vacation resulted in an adult novel & Muskoka love story, The Blue Castle.
