Our
book was written to answer many unanswered questions about
"The Blue Castle". Why did Maud and her family
choose Bala for a holiday in 1922? What inspired her to
write "The Blue Castle"? Why did she choose an
unlikely name like Valancy for her heroine? How many people
in Bala knew in the summer of 1922 that a famous Canadian
author was holidaying in their midst? Our book also tells
the story of our little museum, which we like to think has

croup medicine saved Minnie May’s life
We have a limited number of (empty!) medicine bottles
with vintage labels advertising a croup medicine similar
to what Anne used to save Diana Barry’s baby sister.
(“Down that ipecac went, not only once but many
times during the long anxious night ...” Anne of
Green Gables) Here is the collector’s item that
